Being an eternal optimist, I had hopes for the new administration. Despite what my head was telling me, my heart was hopeful. That glimmer of hope was quickly extinguished as the first full full day of the Trump presidency wore on.
First came his appearance at the CIA headquarters in Virginia. It appeared that he was going to extend an olive branch for having dissed the US intelligence services over their conclusion that Russia had interfered in the election campaign. Nope. As he stood in front of the wall that has 117 stars honoring the agents who have fallen protecting this country, the conversation quickly turned to reports that the NY Times had posted a Tweet about the crowd at the Inauguration. He issued orders to the National Parks Service to forbid Tweeting from National Parks. Say what? Does this man not have bigger fish to fry?
